Re: Better use of backlight in Unity launcher

Paul,

I think he means the glow around icons on the launcher.
Previously they used to indicate running apps like in Win7, but since latest update the glow is on all windows.

Anyhow, I agree with Mark that the glow is redundant here as the running apps have dots next to them.

I saw sometime ago an idea to use launcher icon coloring to indicate workspace they are in.
Another idea could be to use glow on apps to identify minimized apps.

I've noticed the backlight for running applications.
Hello Mark (Curtis),

Could you expand on what you mean by "backlight"? Could you try
explaining in different words? If you are still not sure how to
describe what you're seeing better, please could you try taking a
screenshot and putting an arrow on it?

I'm still not sure if what you're describing is this part of the
Launcher (the left-hand bar), or part of one of the Radiance/Ambiance
themes, or something to do with the window titles. If you go into the
"Appearance" panel of the Control Centre, does changing the theme make
a difference? Does it alter the colour of what you're describing?

Many thanks,

	-Paul
