I think that kde4 widgets are the best implementation of this methafor at
the moment. why not use similar design? why reinvent the wheel?
On these days gnu linux comunity need to find somthing in common like
appstream or freedesktop.org projects.
In my opinion if we can share apis and similar arquitectures we can do
better things.
if you have a better idea this is the good place to explain.
