So perhaps the distinction is on automatically available items?
You might want to pick and choose when an remote-ssh filesystem is available
(for example), in which case it should always be available.
For a USB filesystem, you might want it hidden if the hardware's not
present. When the hardware's there, it mounts. You could unmount it, but it
would still be available from the menu (possibly with another
"safe-to-remove" indicator?). On the other hand, maybe this isn't really a
"bookmark" situation.
