It seems to me that the eye candy is all you notice; Canonical
employees & Ubuntu volunteers work on a lot of different pieces of
Ubuntu. A lot of that work may not be nearly as visible as Unity but
it is still important.

These bugs are all priorities for fixing in Ubuntu Oneiric, many of
them have nothing to do with eye candy:
