Under the hood, this is how backports works now. You have to explicitly pick to install a package from backports (it's enabled by default in oneiric since enabling it doesn't cause packages from backports to be installed) and once you've installed from backports you'll automatically get any updated backports. I'm not sure how well this is exposed in the U/I yet.
