Good idea, but please keep in mind that 7-10% of the population suffer from
red-green color blindness, so green/yellow/red are not a good choice.
My suggestion would be to keep it simple: turn the text *blue* whenever a
task reminder fires off. You can click the icon to see what exactly is going
on. This is identical to how the message menu works, where the icon turns
blue regardless of the message source (email, messenger, twitter, etc).
