Re: Unity Dock Transparency and Maximized windows
there is a bug open about adding blur to the launcher. Not sure if that would solve the issue. The launcher could also be a little less transparent or darker by default.

Subject: [Unity-design] Unity Dock Transparency and Maximized windows
Since the unity dock now defaults to being always visible, even with maximized windows, I think the dock should lose its transparency (And assume the same background color as the top panel) when a window is maximized.
Currently with a maximized window, the transition between the top panel, and the left edge of the maximized window is jarring and kind of ugly. This should look much smoother and flow together better. Its especially bad if you have a light colored desktop background.
When you have a maximized window open, you don't want distracting looking panel transparency on the left side.
