I know this is an old thread now but for those who liked the idea, a
python script which achieves this is now available.
The project is available on LaunchPad (Here
<https://launchpad.net/ambiance-chameleon>).
Both files need to be kept in the same folder. The python script must
then be set to run on startup.

Any thoughts/improvements let me know
