Gaming is a key area for every desktop OS. Ubuntu has the advantage of
being late to the party and can therefore learn what to do better and
what the others got right.

Some suggestions:
· Disable all desktop shortcuts (maybe except STRG+ALT+arrow)
· Find a solution for multi-monitor (show wallpaper only or deactivate)
· Save monitor settings & restore them when switching back to desktop
· Don't show desktop notifications (play the sound only)
· Disable power-saving and screen locking
· Stop none important services (max. CPU power)
· Maybe set the messaging menu status to [name of the game] by default
· Maybe	use zsync to download game updates (downloading	1GB is no fun)

Ubuntu depends for the drivers and games on others but we can provide
a smooth game desktop integration by having nice defaults.

A game can't use multi-monitor, thats okay, Ubuntu will display the
wallpaper on it (no other UI elements).
A user gets an IM msg, just press CTRL+ALT+arrow and switch to another
workspace and answer your buddy (gamers will learn the shortcut quit
fast). Do something awesome with the possibilities Linux already has
(multiple workspaces) to attract more gamers.

The message should be: Ubuntu is the most awesome platform for gaming
and Canonical cares about gamers.
