Investigating the error files it seems some files couldn't be found or are incompatible:

Fatal exception: [/home/kaputtnik/Quellcode/widelands-repo/trunk/src/logic/game.cc:225] could not load "test/maps/lua_persistence.wmf"
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'WException'
  what():  [/home/kaputtnik/Quellcode/widelands-repo/trunk/src/logic/game.cc:225] could not load "test/maps/lua_persistence.wmf"

The last error message is:

Font file not found. Falling back to serif: serif
Could not find file: could not find file or directory: i18n/fonts/serif
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'WLWarning'
  what():  Widelands could not load the file "test/maps/lua_testsuite.wmf". The file format seems to be incompatible.
