I think I'd down-play the integration with Launchpad a bit, and
highlight how great it is as a standalone project. It may attract more
people to hack on it that way  ;)

Yes, absolutely point people to branches and add something nice about
loving contributions. Maybe even tell them to use merge proposals and
such.
