I remember actually making something that monitored the note files and
detected changes, which is the only needed feature for them to be
updated via Ubuntu One or Dropbox.

Since there haven't been any changes on this project I've been using Tomboy instead... There are a lot of features we could use from that project - I'm thinking that using some kinda XML like syntax for the notes would be a better idea - also it should be possible to add links (A feature I really wanted in a long time).
Another idea my girlfriend gave me is using the Google docs API. This way the users just need to login to their google account and then it would be easy to keep the notes in sync. Then it would be super simple to create and Android widget app as well :)

Of all these ideas the easiest solution for synchronization would probably be just using Dropbox and then keep the notes in sync with the file system.
I would love to take a look back in time to see if I can find the change I once made... It looks like it would still merge with todays code base. What are your thoughts?
