I've been totally satisfied with XPAD, the only issue I found is that,
when I re-boot my system, all the notes ends up stacked on one side of
the screen, either right or top. I installed this app from Ubuntu
software center, on ubuntu 12.04. I have around 6 sticky notes on the
desktop, without any window decoration, with personal fonts and custom
colors. I hope there is a solution, since I need to replace them each
time to make them readable, I might have eventually to  give up this
great app. Thanks for your help. Tim
