The main thing is, that I want to have notes stored at different
locations, for example little to-do lists pertaining to certain
directories or projects.

Anyway I've found a workaround, by creating the notes inside Xpad, but then editing the info-{id} file from ~/.config/xpad to say
```
content ../../path-to-file
```
instead of 
```
content content-{id}
```
