With lots and again lots of people not having complained about this, I'm
still thinking we only see the vocal minority here.

It's not at all justified to think "opinion" here means "won't fix". I
have subscribed the Xubuntu Team to this bug, so the team will be
informed of all changes. Since this is a trivial change to make for the
new release, I'd still wait and see for more feedback from the issue
from the team and other people too before doing a hasty decision in a
direction or another.
