A workaround is inadequate :^(
But my personal choice would be to just disregard the message:
https://launchpadlibrarian.net/138234165/screensaver_warning.png
And click on >Forward.
An alternative is posted here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1859290&p=11340340#post11340340
But since this bug has existed since at least Oneirtic I'm more
concerned about actually getting it fixed than I am about documenting a
work-around :^)
Since skipping a Saucy release would be problematic I think we should
use it as a bug-fix release and then we can hit 14.04 with our full
force. Maybe then we could skip a 14.10 in favor of fixing any bugs that
slipped by in 14.04 :)
