LP Bug #1190406 notes that pidgin-microblog is not Twitter API 1.1 compliant.  Since the bug was filed pidgin-microblog no cannot interact with Identica due to their change of back-end.  The package can be used with small, independent StatusNet sites but those are very few in number.

This proposed merge would comment out the package from the seed so that it does not ship on the disc in 13.10.  Discussions continue with the Debian maintainer as to what to do with this package but nothing has been heard so far.  In the meantime this would prevent a mostly broken tool from shipping that will only cause duplicates of LP Bug #1190406.  With luck the maintainer on the Debian side will either introduce transitional dummy packages or find a suitable patch.
