Hi Vaclav,

 Thanks you for these interesting topics. Bruno summarized me your
discussion, and we have chosen the subjects concerning: the multhreading
with openMP and the Python optimization on YADE. Normally, if i find a
second available computer in this period, i will receive another student.
So, in the two circumstances, i'll need you and bruno to start the topic
about Python or multhreading.

Jeff,

we discussed it with Bruno on IRC. We were both waiting for the other to
make reply ;-). There was multiple things to consider:

1. Parallel computation using openMP (non-intrusive shared memory) could
be tried and benchmarked. Further optimizations may include analyzing
bottlenecks of execution and eliminating those. Very nice for someone
who is into optimization, numerics and wants to learn. Difficulty:
medium (I think).

2. Serialization (and attribute access) in yade. Seems very difficult,
since we need to balance speed, ease of use and non-intrusiveness.
Difficulty: high.

3. Python, which uses serialization at this moment, which is not
efficient; further, bindings should be automatized. I would be able to
supervise this. Difficulty: high.
