You still didn't explain in what way are your results "different".

$DISPLAY is standard environment variable pointing to your X server
(usually :0.0). Setting to empty value disables graphical interface of
yade.

The interaction is explained in the note in
https://www.yade-dem.org/sphinx/prog.html#opengl-rendering , but impact
on results should not be different from running on slower computer or
with different number of threads.
