I had no way of testing this without installing 14.04 specifically for that
problem, so I appreciate you helping me solve it.

Yes, that is OK. I will tweak it a bit to make it more versatile.

nearly the same.*

Yes that is correct. I compared flow.useSolver=3  to flow.useSolver=4 using
oedometer.py  (on gpu and cpu). Results are the same. Did you encounter
different results for your comparison?
