Yes, rupture is considered.
Generally speaking, mass is not conserved be it in real experiments or
in the model: because we are at imposed suction, water volume is a
result, not a constant.
Suction also rules the volumes distribution.
It is possible, however, to keep the volume constant by
servo-controlling the suction. Luc did that.
The documentation is very short indeed. For questions about the model,
you may want to read the published papers instead.
