It is now obvious for me that it should not be like that.
Take spheres with initial velocity = 0.
This thinking would give after impact v=0+0.81=0.81, i.e. no bouncing
and the spheres moving at the same speed as the boundary.
This is not what should happen in elastic impacts, clearly. If you need
to compare things, then compare relative to relative.
I tested without damping.
before:
v_sphere = -0.068, v_plate=0.250 -> relative_v=0.318
after:
v_sphere = 0.567, v_plate=0.250 -> relative_v=0.317
Everything is correct. Please, Vadim, close this question if you agree.
