I read the two threads and I encountered similar problems to yours.
After I reinstall YADE with the newest version, I can run the codes. But
as you pointed, it seems no effect. So I am wondering within a script
after I consolidated the packing, can I use:

O.materials[0].frictionAngle=0.5
O.materials[0].alphaKr=0.2
O.materials[0].etaRoll=1.

to reset the parameters for the following shearing process? Will these
codes take effects?
