Re: [Question #269063]: Metallic plate tension
Question #269063 on Yade changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/yade/+question/269063
Status: Open => Answered
Jérôme Duriez proposed the following answer:
Hi,
I did not get all your description (is this "plate" a sphere assembly ?
that's it ? Is there no elements (like rigid walls) bounding this
assembly) nor all your questions (maybe there was too many ?), but here
are few elements:
- TriaxialStressController should work as good in tension as in
compression, provided you switch the sign of the parameters (tension
should be > 0 in recent versions). However, this engine is designed for
a "cell" delimited with 6 rigid walls.
- if your sphere sample is a monosized regular (cristallographic) one
without non-spherical boundary elements , your 3rd proposal (applying
force directly to the boundary spheres) should just work. If N is the
number of boundary spheres (easy to define for such sample), just apply
to each sphere an external force F / N.
Note that shortening and precising your question could only help to get other (better ?) answers. ;-)
