Ah... Do you mean you launch yade-batch (assuming the "normal" executable is called "yade") ?
If yes, I would think this is the exact reason as, from my point of view, yade-batch by design does not offer any interface...

(in fact, I even can not understand how you may get what you described
in #3..)
