In case this drop occurs in a very short time (without any significant
strain loading), I think it basically means your sample was not at
equilibrium.

You may check for equilibrium using classical indicators such as YADE
unbalanced force, and also monitor how the walls were moving during the
stress control phase (did you actually reach a steady state, where the
walls stopped to move to insure the 100 kPa).


On the other hand, the drop may (obviously) also be caused by some inappropriate strain loading (did you update the "goal_i" attributes at the same time you're switching to stressMask = 0 ?)
