For "computeCapillaryForce()", the definition (the body) is in the header file together with the declaration: 
TwoPhaseFlowEngine.hpp:257
void computeCapillaryForce() {computeFacetPoreForcesWithCache(false);}

I also think what you describe can be done. I suggest to discuss this by
email separately since it concerns a very specific objective, involving
some still unstable and poorely documented code.
