Question #657216 on Yade changed:

Luc Scholtès proposed the following answer:
Hi,
Did not think about this before but I guess it could be a bit tricky if you work with a volume of particles containing a persistent through going joint for instance since you will get an average stress for a medium that is not homogeneous.
Is it what you want to do or did you just ask for an isolated particle (e.g. to study per particle stress)?
For an isolated particle, it should work under the condition that the right quantities are used in Love Weber equation. Particles interacting through the smooth joint contact logic have a contact orientation that is different from the one computed from the normal interaction (interparticle distance and orientation are computed as a function of the joint surface geometry and not as a function of the sphere-sphere geometry). If you keep that in mind, it should work.
