Deepak proposed the following answer:
In parallel runs, the domain is partitioned among the processors (based
on a spatial domain decomposition algorithm, can be set in the
system/decomposeParDict ). Hence the files in processor* corresponds to
the solution of 'piece' of the domain. Please see[1]
