Jan Stránský proposed the following answer:
"extenrally" I  meant:
- delete the PyRunner(command='kinematics_WS()',...) from O.engines
- call kinematics_WS() somewhere around the end of the script.

simply, if you need O.step or O.run in a function, do not use it in a
PyRunner
