yes (should be), depending on other factors (like if the individual
bristles should also interact or it does not matter)

have a look (in documentation and in other questions) at CohFrictMat,
CohFrictPhys etc.

it depends. If the code offered by Yade is suitable for your needs, I would not go the way writing you own code.
But for sure it is also an option.
