I don't like this approach.. You can neglect some "minor" dynamic waves
in the bar. But this whole situation is a dynamic impact, the contact
force is "not much dependent" on the deflection (as a static force would
be). If you are interested in (quasi)static response, just prescribe
linear motion of the central node, avoiding the impact loading
conditions.

I mean that the deformed shape is something like two almost straight
lines connected in a middle hinge, while theoretically it should be a
symmetric cubic parabola with horizontal tangent in the middle.
