If you did it carefully it should be the ok but it is really not a
recommended method (because there might be other bugfixes in the
meantime, for instance).

Best method is to download the sources with git [1], then you update with "cd trunk; git pull".
Please confirm the issue with current trunk version first, else we don't know really what we are speaking about.
