Sometimes source code is your best friend [2]..
Return value are 4 lists, phiAverage, velAverageX, velAverageY, velAverageZ, "the particle velocity and solid volume fraction (porosity) depth profile along the direction specified" [1]

If you feel the documentation could/should be improved, you can leave
issue on gitlab or you can improve it yourself.
