For the other part of your question, first step is that
https://gitlab.com/yade-dev/trunk/-/merge_requests/891 turns into a
"merged" state.

Once this is done, it should be a matter of day(s) before your package
manager proposes you update yade-daily to a version that includes the
fix (if you use yade-daily)

If you use "yade", it would have to wait until a next release of your
operating system (upgrade your whole Ubuntu, maybe not the way to go
when waiting for a YADE update)

Using source code, it is a matter of you typing git pull (on a correct
branch, above link should be "merged" if you have a default workflow =
on "master" branch) and recompiling.
