Currently available LBaaS provider is HAProxy which doesn't have ping
healthchecks: https://code.google.com/p/haproxy-docs/wiki/httpchk

  It looks like health monitor with types TCP and PING send the same traffic for validation - tcp on port 80 with:
  health monitor to instance: syn
  instance to health monitor: syn-ack
  health monitor to instance: reset-ack

  While I expected the health monitor with type PING to send a kind of
  icmp for health validations.
