[Bug 1215383] Re: XenAPI: Consider removing safe_copy_vdi
Marking as Opinion as this bug discusses internal code structure changes
which are partially out of date. In future bugs that have a reproduce
would be more valuable.

Title:
XenAPI: Consider removing safe_copy_vdi
Status in OpenStack Compute (Nova):
Opinion
Bug description:
safe_copy_vdi depends on ext3 and is not using supported interfaces,
so should be considered for removal.
It was added because the vdi.copy operation wasn't considered to be
atomic. However, VDI.copy is definitely atomic and will not return
until the copy has finished. It's therefore possible that the
rationale for this function was based on looking at the SR during a
copy operation, or use of async VDI copy.
The reasons for this function need to be reviewed.
