[Bug 2095587] Re: Thunderbird snap not installable on stable branch
I agree with Ivan and this does not look related to horizon... According
to https://snapcraft.io/thunderbird you have to report this to a
different bug tracker. I've reassigned to the thunderbird project but
the project does not use launchpad it seems.

Title:
Thunderbird snap not installable on stable branch
Status in Mozilla Thunderbird:
Invalid
Bug description:
Either on plain Ubuntu 24.04 or during the release upgrade the
thunderbird snap is not able to install.
The error message:
Preparing to unpack .../thunderbird_2%3a1snap1-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb ...
=> Installing the thunderbird snap
==> Checking connectivity with the snap store
==> Installing the thunderbird snap
error: cannot perform the following tasks:
- Mount snap "thunderbird" (609) (installation not allowed by "dot-thunderbird" plug rule of interface "personal-files" for "thunderbird" snap)
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/thunderbird_2%3a1snap1-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb (--unpack):
new thunderbird package pre-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/apt/archives/thunderbird_2%3a1snap1-0ubuntu3_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
On the release upgrade to ubuntu 24 this can break the entire system
and is therefore crittical.
Currently the error also appears if you try to install thunderbird without the apt package via:
sudo snap install thunderbird
Only the beta branch with
sudo snap install --beta thunderbird
seems to be working.
