Title:
Performance Tuning for Nested VXLAN Tunnel in OpenStack (OVS Backend)
Status in networking-ovn:
Incomplete
Status in neutron:
New
Bug description:
Hi everyone,
I'm building a private cloud home lab using OpenStack with Open
vSwitch (OVS) as the backend for Neutron networking. The overlay
network is based on VXLAN.
In a basic test using iPerf between two VMs on the same VXLAN network,
I can achieve throughput up to 5 Gbps.
However, when I configure a VXLAN tunnel manually between the two VMs
(i.e., nested VXLAN within the existing Neutron VXLAN overlay), the
maximum throughput drops significantly to around 1 Gbps. I’ve already
increased the allocated CPU resources to the VMs, but there was no
noticeable improvement.
Has anyone experienced similar performance issues with nested VXLAN
setups on OpenStack? Are there any recommended tuning parameters or
best practices to improve performance in this case?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
