Reinstalling the unity-place-applications and unity-place-files packages
and rebooting solves the problem.

It tells me that don't install any important ubuntu component using 3-rd
party sources or you will get messed up.

Thanks JamesH for solution. I didn't know what packages the "unity
search" uses, and even don't know what the "unity search" real name is.
