Message #00081
Playlists, M4A, and --bind_address; impending release
Hello,
If you have a chance, please try out some of the stuff that's new in
Zeya since the last release:
* Playlist support. Some backends now detect playlists you've saved
and let you play them in the browser. The 'rhythmbox' backend loads
all playlists you've saved in Rhythmbox. The 'dir' backend loads any
playlists (M3U or PLS) that it detects in the directory you've
specified.
* PLS format playlists are now supported by --backend=playlist. (Amit Saha)
* Support for decoding m4a files. (Rainer Hahnekamp)
* UI improvements: song progress timer, button for clearing search filter
* New --bind_address flag for binding Zeya to a single interface only
(Bjoern Lohrmann)
* A few bug fixes so Zeya 'just works' in more weird corner cases
(Samson Yeung) -- see the git log or the bug tracker for details.
All of the above changes are on my 'master' branch.
On my 'use-mutagen' branch I also have changes to make Zeya use
mutagen ('python-mutagen' package on Debian) for tagging instead of
tagpy. mutagen seems to be somewhat better behaved than tagpy, so I'd
like to merge this soon.
Please let me know if you notice any irregularities, especially
related to tagging, on either the 'master' or 'use-mutagen' branches.
If you use the 'dir' backend, delete your zeya.db file so Zeya doesn't
use any cached data.
I've been sitting on some of these patches for a long time, so I'd
like to make a release soon. I expect to make the 0.5 release in the
next week or so. Let me know if you notice any problems or if you have
any patches for me.
Thanks, and happy listening!
Phil
