That is the correct behavior when the locale information for German is not present -- which it isn't on santacruz.  If you:

$ cd to /usr/share/locale
$ find . -name LC_TIME

you'll see that no language has the proper locale information (for time) installed.  If I run the query on my Mac or on the RQ machine, it prints the result in German.
