Re: [Ayatana] UbuntuOne

If that is the case then it just reinforces the other point that things are not very clearly communicated. :P
i had no idea thats what it was doing, i just know that when I put files in the folder, and have all my permissions correct and all that, everythings gravy, yet nothing will ever sync correctly. I got the first few to go, now it just sits there for hours on one file. I cannot find a reliable dialog about what is happening, nor does the syncing info ever change. its vague and awkward.

especially with the wording of 'Publish via Ubuntuone'

How is it publishing, at all? i am not distributing content, or printing, or putting it on a public place to be viewed. I am storing it, or saving it, or backing it up, or Syncing it. But not publishing.

It's publishing because it creates a public short URL that can be shared with others, put in microblogging updates, etc.  So you are in fact putting it in a public place to be viewed.  After a file has been 'publish' via Ubuntu One, the menu item changes to 'Stop publishing via Ubuntu One' and a very useful 'Copy Ubuntu One public URL' shows up.

It's a very nice feature, and one that hasn't received nearly enough publicity.
