A new clutter-gst package is in oneiric-proposed.

Please test by adding this line to /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ports.ubuntu.com/ubuntu-ports/ oneiric-proposed main
restricted universe
or do the equivalent from a GUI

update and upgrade.

cheese should work then
If it indeed does please leave a comment here - from two or 3 users will suffice
