I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 with Gnome. UL30A with intel graphics and dualcore
ULV. (SU7300)
glxinfo | grep render
direct rendering: Yes
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa DRI Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset GEM

With Compiz (effects) on...
glxgears
2470 frames in 5.0 seconds
2622 frames in 5.0 seconds
2580 frames in 5.0 seconds
... and off
