I've been thinking that the current wiki page name is not helpful to

(I'm willing after next Wed.) could restructure to list all the features

generally accepted solutions to problems. My own preference is that
comments be in reverse date order so most recent are first. That's also
easiest on a wiki in my experience with a number of such efforts.

Well there are plenty of blogs around with random pieces, I was hoping for something like a wiki with a nice simple front page: This site is to help people get Ubuntu running on their Asus ul* laptops... (list of links).

Then there would be a page that would cover the basic install
1) get ISO image
2) verify ISO image
3) usb-creator usage (for those without cd/dvd drives)
4) install (use entire disk) or install (preserve windows)
...

Then a page for each problem/tweak:
* Function keys
* Minimizing power usage (powertop, minimizing disk wakeups, laptop-
  mode-tools, and pm-utils-powersave-policy and related tweaks)
* Using nvidia card
* Using ATI card
* Using intel card
* GPU Switching solution
* screen brightness
* Video glitches
* Upside down skype
* Sleep/wake problems
* Running the existing windows install from inside linux (virtualbox or
  similar)

Then provide ALL the information for a single solution, kernel, grub settings, ubuntu version, 64bit or 32 bit kernel, links to the files needed. Then a section at the bottom for people to say:
* Worked for me as well on this model as well
* I made tweak X and it helped
* Didn't work for me.
* I verified this works as described.

Maybe interested parties could contact me off list and we can develop
the idea.

Seems like this list is a reasonable place to discuss it, at least for now.

Currently I feel like I could write the screen brightness page with at least one reasonable solution. I've had no luck with skype. I've been following some discussions that seem to be have improved on the ATI<->Intel solution to work with Nvidia <-> intel as well but involves a fair bit of patching and compiling so far and a logout/restart of X is still required.
