Thank you Jiri,

The webcam upside down is an issue that more Asus laptops have, and I
found these links while researching the problem for a 2 year old Asus
laptop:

I haven't dived into it yet, but I will see whether these links are
useful solving this problem for the UL30Jt once it arrives.
