Message #00285
Bug report: "compatible" SATA operation mode disables Intel card
Hi Everyone,
For those of you running a UL model with switchable graphics, there's
a bug report on Launchpad that states: "Changing the SATA operation
mode in BIOS from "enhanced" to "compatible" completely disables the
Intel card."
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/575750?comments=all
As you know, running under "compatible" mode is currently the only way
to fully disable the Intel GPU & driver and activate the NVIDIA GPU &
driver. Unfortunately, "compatible" mode degrades the I/O performance
of the hard drive and results in much slower boot and resume from
suspend/hibernation speeds.
The report hasn't received much traffic/feedback from the community.
It could be valuable for those of us affected by this issue to add a
comment to the report (also, don't forget to click on the green link
at the top of the page indicating you are also affected by this bug).
Thanks!
David
