In BaShare, we have the string number 12
(https://translations.launchpad.net/bashare/trunk/+pots/bashare/it/12/+translate)
that is used to thank the people that have collaborated with BaShare.
The thing is that this is not current anymore, and if we change the
original English string, all the "thanking strings" that are now
translated will disappear from Launchpad. That means that for each new
person that has contributed in some way to translations, all the
languages have to translate again the whole list of translators. This
is not optimal!

Now I have found that the string "translator-credits" gets
automatically managed by Launchpad to contain the list of persons that
have contributed to translating the application in a certain language.
We could use this string so that the list of translators gets
automatically created... The downside of this is that if for example
you have the application in Spanish, you will not see the names of the
persons that translated in Dutch... But I think that it is only a
minor problem, compared to forcing all the translators to update the
strings when somebody new fixes just a letter in one string...
What we could do is restrict the current "thanking string" to
developers, because there is by definition less people coding than
translating.

Guido, what is your opinion about this?
