Re: Working as a team

I like the idea. As a team of beginners we can learn from each other
with a place to ask questions.

If I may suggest a package how about vnc4server.

It is full of bugs some of them in the packaging some in the program.

I use it when I can
but often run into programs that just don't work with it and produce
unintelligible errors in inaccessible places.

It is a very useful program that works well with CentOS so I don't why
it shouldn't with Ubuntu also.

Maybe you can tell, I've sort of already adopted it as my personal project.

As a mentee I think this will be a very good platform to understand the
bugs against a package and help in triaging new kinds of bugs in the future.

Can't wait to get started :D

Thanks for your comments.

Draycen, that's what I'm talking about :D

I think that you, mentors, should select the package(s) that we should
work
on.

As a mentor, I think it'd be great if we found some way to make this
more
active and a better learning experience for all of the mentees. It
sounds
like you're suggesting maybe a week-long bugday-type setup just for our
team, where we choose a different package every week and work on it as a
group?

Hello,

Well, this is mainly aimed at mentees, but it would be great if mentors
comment about it too.

We (mentees) are working by our own way in this mentoring, that's
why (I
guess) this ML does not have activity. So, I propose to work like a
_team_
in this way:
   * Select a package to work on.
   * Start traiging _together_ on that package.
   * If we need help, ask here to mentors (of course, we can help
each other
if is possible).
   * We'll try to work in this cycle every week.

Benefits:
   * We'll have _work_ and opportunities to learn what we need about
triaging
and gain some experience.
   * We have the chance to ask directly to mentors and clarify things.
   * Make Ubuntu better.

I'd really like to get some responses from mentees and let us know what
they think about it. Please don't hesitate to comment.

Thanks.
